SIEMENS has released the Simatic WinAC RTX F, a fail-safe software controller for PC-based automation, allowing safety-related tasks to be performed via PC.According to Siemens, the Simatic WinAC RTX F is a Windows XP or eXP-based controller with an optimised runtime system to process extensive PC applications simultaneously.
Like the modular Simatic S7 controllers, the engineering software is Step 7, supplemented by the Distributed Safety option package for safety-related applications.Siemens claims its Simatic WinAC RTX F software controller is suited for high-performance tasks with substantial data volumes and simultaneous, demanding real-time requirements.
When it is used in dual-core processor systems, one core is used for Windows application, and the other for the Simatic WinAC RTX F controller.The Simatic WinAC RTX F fail-safe software controller can be installed on all current x86 PC hardware platforms, such as Simatic PCs.Simatic WinAC RTX F can be expanded using the safety-oriented peripherals ET 200S, ET 200M, and ET 200pro with IP67 degree of protection, or with the safety-oriented ET 200eco block I/O with IP67 degree of protection.

Dalam membuat PLC Network dengan protocol TCP/IP hendaknya anda memahami dan mengerti cara membuat koneksi kabel pada socket UTP RJ45. Silahkan baca artikel di bawah ini untuk lebih jelasnya.Pengkabelan di jaringan komputer atau PLC tidak sesederhana tapi tidaklah serumit yang kita bayangakan, tapi saya sendiri sering harus kesulitan mengingat urutan warna kabel UTP RJ45. Mungkin, catatan saya ini cukup membantu pembaca untuk mengingat perangkat yang disediakan, mulai dari kabel, conector, crimp tool, dan tester.
Untuk membuat kabel jaringan UTP RJ45 antara lain :
Crimping Tool yang dipasaran tersedia jenis tunggal atau doubel, untuk jenis tunggal hanya untuk kabel RJ45 sedangkan yang double untuk kabel RJ45 dan RJ11. Alat ini dijual dengan kisaran harga 40 ribu sampai 750 ribu rupiah, yang pasti harga juga menentukan kualitas.
Cable Tester dipergunakan untuk melakukan pengetesan setelah kabel rj 45 dipasang konektor, sehingga kita tidak mengalami kesulitan untuk mengetahui kesalahan yang dilakukan pada saat pemasangan konektor. Perangkat tester ini dipasaran dijual dengan harga kisaran 60 ribu hingga 200 ribu.
Cable UTP Cat 5e merupakan kabel yang terdiri 8 pair dan tersedia dalam berbagai merk (Belden, AMP Cable, Panduit dll), kabel ini dipakai untuk jaringan komputer indoor. Sehingga tidak direkomendasikan untuk instalasi outdoor, dan panjang maksimal untuk point to point pada kisaran 100 meter. Harga dipasaran kabel UTP RJ45 ini dijual antara 450 ribu hingga 950 ribu per rol dengan panjang per rol sekitar 330 meter.
Connector RJ45 alat terpenting setelah kabel dalam membuat kabel jaringan komputer. Secara fisik konektor ini sangat kecil tapi memiliki tingkat kesulitan dalam pemasangannya. Bila salah memasang kabel dalam konektor, secara otomatis konektor itu harus dibuang karena sudah tidak dapat dipergunakan kembali. Connector RJ45 dijual dengan kisaran 90 ribu sampai 200 ribu per 50 biji.
Setelah anda mengetahui peralatan yang dibutuhkan dalam membuat kabel jaringan komputer, kini waktunya anda mencobanya :
Langkah Pertama : tentukan terlebih dahulu jenis konfigurasi kabel yang terlebih dahulu. Cross Cable atau Straight Cable atau Rollover Cable.

New advanced process control (APC) features include runtime partial import/export functionality, APC function blocks and controller online change logging. Runtime partial import functionality helps reduce downtime risks and improve productivity during deployment and maintenance operations, allowing the addition of new programs, routines and add-on instructions, as well as replacement of existing programs and routines. New APC function blocks allow for long, dead-time processes and provide simpler multivariable control with automatic tuning built in. The controller online change-logging feature allows users to be notified when application changes are made. Regulated industries will benefit from tighter control and evidence of validation for industry certifications. Process customers may also be interested in the new Allen Bradley ControlLogix L65 PACs with increased memory capacity.
New safety tools for use with Allen-Bradley GuardLogix PACs offer a suite of 10 specific metal-forming instructions certified by German-based Berufsgenossenschaften (BG) as compliant with leading safety standards. These instructions - associated with clutch/brake, control and safety, valve control, and cam and crankshaft monitoring - improve ease of use, simplify diagnostics and streamline maintenance to canning applications and other metal-forming press-control and safety applications.
The new GuardLogix L63S PAC is also available with this release. Because GuardLogix controllers are designed to help perform safety and standard functions, the amount of time required for programming, validation and testing is reduced. Using the same controller for both safety and standard control also helps reduce wiring costs.
New information capabilities are provided with the introduction of the Rockwell Automation Stratix family. The Rockwell Automation Stratix family features a Rockwell Automation and Cisco co-branded line of modular, managed switches with attributes that will add value to both IT and automation control professionals. Other product lines in the portfolio include Embedded Technology, as well as lines of fixed managed and unmanaged switches, and physical media. The entire portfolio uses standard, unmodified Ethernet and is optimized for use in EtherNet/IP applications and the Integrated Architecture system, while the Cisco operating system, user environment and feature set is exclusive to the Stratix 8000 line.
New capabilities for machine builders include the introduction of the Allen Bradley CompactLogix L23 PACs designed to provide the capabilities of the Integrated Architecture system in a small compact package. Offering three I/O and communication configurations to help meet machine builder needs, the new controllers can be expanded using Allen-Bradley 1769 Compact I/O. Also available with this release is multilingual project documentation with language switching. Ideal for users with the same applications running at international locations, the improvement helps reduce engineering costs by allowing customers to globally deploy a single project file with user documentation in multiple languages.
"These Integrated Architecture system improvements are a direct response to manufacturers who seek a new generation of more powerful automation and production systems to automate and standardize their work processes more effectively," said Craig Resnick, research director, ARC Advisory Group. Tahukah anda, apa itu inverter?
Inverter merupakan alat/komponen untuk mengatur kecepatan motor-motor listrik/servo. Atau bisa disebut converter, drive. Cuma kalau untuk servo lebih dikenal dengan istilah servo drive. Dengan menggunakan inverter motor listrik menjadi variable speed. Kecepatannya bisa diubah-ubah atau disetting sesuai dengan kebutuhan.
Didunia otomatisasi industri, inverter sangat banyak digunakan. Aplikasi ini biasanya terpasang untuk proses linear (parameter yang bisa diubah-ubah). Linear ya seperti grafik sinus. atau untuk sistem axis (servo) yang membutuhkan putaran/aplikasi yang presisi.
Mungkin kita kenal dari semua vendor automasi industri pasti membuat inverter juga. Contohnya saja Allen Bradley, Siemens, Hitachi, Panasonic, Omron, Mitsubishi, Danfoss dan masih banyak lagi merek-merek lain. Dari masing-masing brand tersebut mempunyai kelebihan dan kekurangan masing-masing.
Anda pasti tahu didalam inveterter kita harus mensetting parameter yang disesuaikan dengan komponen yang akan di kontrol via inveter tersebut. Contohnya: Tegangan Motor Listrik, Ampere, Frekwensi, High Speed, Torsi, dll. Dengan cara yang manual menggunakan display hal tersebut bisa dilakukan dengan mengikuti manual book yang dikeluarkan oleh vendor inveter tersebut.
Protokol komunikasi yang diimplementasikan oleh setiap inveter berbeda-beda. Ada yang menggunakan Analog output PLC, Profibus, Device NET, Sysmac (Omron), USS, Controlnet dll.
Nah disini, saya memperkenalkan software MCT-10 (VLT Motion Control Tool) yang dikeluarkan oleh DANFOSS. Dengan menggunakan software ini dan kabel serial (COM1) yang dihubungkan antara PC dan Inventer, process configurasi menjadi sangat mudah. Kita hanya menggunakan sebuah kabel interface DB9/RS232 dari PC ke inverter. Selain mudah dalam penggunaannya, dalam operation dilapangan jika mempunyai jenis inveter yang sama dengan aplikasi beban yang sama, kita bisa langsung mendownload file configurasi ini dari satu inverter ke inverter yang lainnya. Lebih mudah kan?.... mijit-mijit tombol inverterpun sudah tidak perlu lagi.

System Requirements
Base Platform Requirements:
Intel Pentium 4 1.6GHz (single core, dual-core, and hyperthreaded CPUs are supported)
A minimum of 256 Mb of RAM
150 Mb of hard disk space free
800 X 600 video resolution
Any Windows-compatible pointing device
Operating System:
Microsoft Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4 (recommended)

Product Revision Information
RSLogix Emulate 5000 Version 16.00.00 requires the following:
Software Product Compatible Versions:
RSLinx 2.51.00 or higher
Any RSLogix 5000 version from Version 12 through 16
Installation Procedure
Product Installation:
Begin the installation of the product by running the setup.exe file
located at the root of the CD media. This will launch a CD browser that
provides a means to install the RSLogix Emulate 5000 product, and
also displays pertinent product information.
Please use the "Add/Remove Programs" applet in control panel to remove
previous versions of SoftLogix5800. While performing an install or uninstall,
please note any messages that recommend a system reboot. Failure to follow
the reboot instructions can render your installation inoperable.
If you want to reinstall the same vesion as is currently installed, please use the
"Add/Remove Programs" applet in control panel to remove the existing version of
RSLogix Emulate 5000. While performing an install or uninstall, please note any
messages that recommend a system reboot. Failure to follow the reboot instructions
can render your installation inoperable.
Please refer to the RSLogix Emulate 5000 Getting Results Guide for details on
installing this product. This document can be viewed with the Adobe Acrobat
Reader by opening the file LGEM5K-GR016A-EN-P.pdf located at
IMPORTANT NOTES:
RSLogix Emulate 5000 cannot be installed on any machine that already has
SoftLogix5800 installed on it.
RSLinx Classic should be installed before installing the RSLogix Emulate 5000
product.
If RSLinx Classic is installed after RSLogix Emulate 5000, please run the
SIRegEDS.exe program that can be found in the RSEMU5000 directory on the
installation CD. After the products are installed, you must first add the
Virtual Backplane driver in RSLinx Classic in order to connect to the
SoftLogix engine.
Even if you plan to remotely program the controller over a ControlNet or
Ethernet link, you must add the Virtual Backplane driver via RSLinx Classic
software. If you do not, persistent storage will not function and when you
reboot the computer, the controller will come up with cleared memory (the
program will not get re-loaded).
Data Execution Prevention (a feature of Microsoft Windows also known as DEP) is
not supported by RSLogix Emulate 5000. If your computer's CPU supports DEP, we
advise using DEP for only essential Windows programs and services. (This is the
default setting for Windows XP; for Windows Server 2003, DEP is on by default
for all programs and services.) If DEP is turned on for RSLogix Emulate 5000,
you may experience unexpected results. See your Windows documentation for
information regarding DEP.
Jump to Subroutine (JSR) instructions do execute in the emulator. However,
the instruction passes parameters to subroutines in reverse order from the
order in a physical controller (the last parameter is passed first in an
emulated controller). Do not use JSR instructions in a manner where the
order in which parameters are passed to a subroutine matters.

This is a listing of tutorials and manuals found on the Siemens automation website that will get you started on the SIMATIC Step 7 software for S7-300 and S7-400 systems. From a new users perspective I’ve only heard disparaging comments about finding the right information on the Siemens’ website. I have to agree. Its information overload at it’s best. There’s a lot of different stuff there thrown together and found in different spots with very long URL addresses to add to the confusion.
Have no fear. We’re here to help. So we’ll look at the essentials for your journey.
Of course the best type of training is the hands on type but if that’s not an option then you’ll need to start digging in.
If you are just learning and can’t easily get the software then there are two options.
The first thing I like to do with a new product is get an overview of everything. Getting used to part numbers and product groupings can go a long way with your comfort level. The best thing for this is the sales catalog (ST 70 – 2005). You can also order a hard copy.
Once you install the Step 7 software there will be a directory under the SIMATIC folder called Documentation that includes the most important manuals. Hard copies can be ordered with number 6ES7810-4CA08-8BW1. Here’s how I would digest them.
There’s gold in that website if you just do a little digging! If you’re having a tough go with the manuals then you should definitely download the training material. There’s a lot more screen shots and even a picture of a balding pudgy guy to point things out to you. What more could you want?
If you’re not the manual type (and even if you are) check out the Siemens Step 7 Flash tutorials. These are very professionally done with a nice sounding narrator to take you through all the basics of the Step 7 software and hardware.
Of all the starting places to dig for more info I find the support section the best especially if you have a part number or key word you can search on. Clicking on the Product Support link will bring up a tree on the left hand side that can be expanded down to the product of your affection. Good luck and happy hunting.
